Belarus plants 1.8m trees over weekend

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Belarusians planted over 1.8 million trees over the weekend, the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry told BelTA.

More than 7,500 participants joined the Bringing Forests Back to Life voluntary public campaign during its first two days. In a collaborative effort, forestry workers and volunteers planted 1,821,990 trees in forests, with restoration work conducted on 448 sites.

The Forestry Ministry noted that volunteers also helped clean up the forests, created memorial alleys, and restored recreational sites.

Gomel Oblast is currently leading in terms of work progress. The residents of this region have been the most active in supporting the campaign initiated by the Forestry Ministry.

Running from 11 October to 31 October, the Bringing Forests Back to Life campaign welcomes all volunteers. Those wishing to join should contact any local forestry enterprise. The organizations will provide all necessary planting materials and tools.
