Belarus plans to build four border outposts on southern border

GOMEL DISTRICT, 20 March (BelTA) – Plans are in place to build four new border outpost complexes on the southern border in Gomel Oblast, Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko said at the opening of a new complex of the Semyonovka border outpost, BelTA said.
Ivan Krupko emphasized the importance of this work. “Our state is moving forward, building industrial and social infrastructure. And for national security, the borders must be equipped with everything necessary. It is clear that the geopolitical situation is changing virtually every day. We see the statements of leaders of different countries and hope for peace. However, the security of our people should be above all, as the head of our state said,” he emphasized.
Therefore, the construction of outposts on the southern border is an essential part of this work, the governor said. “Over the past two or three years, six border outposts have actually been put into operation. They are equipped with modern technical gear to ensure security and control. Therefore, strengthening of borders and opening of such modern complexes is very important. I believe that the state is doing a very big thing by building the infrastructure to keep the border tightly protected,” Ivan Krupko said.
He emphasized that new projects have already been outlined for this year: four outposts will be constructed along the southern border. "In fact, work on them has already begun. The entire southern border is under the strictest technical control and the supervision of the border service, in cooperation with all the security forces of the country. Security will be ensured at the highest level. Under the challenging conditions of severe sanctions, we need to move forward and seek new partners. We see the extensive international agenda of our president aimed at strengthening ties and developing our country. In general, all of us are contributing to our national security and the development of the country for our youth, for the future generations," he concluded.
"It is very important to ensure that every person working in the economy, raising and educating children or employed in healthcare understands that the leadership is doing its utmost to provide security at the border and nearby areas and throughout the whole country."

A new complex was inaugurated at the Semyonovka border outpost on 20 March. Construction of the new complex here began in May 2022.
