MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) - Belarus and Pakistan are interested in developing mutually beneficial relations, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said as he met with the Pakistani parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on 20 August, BelTA has learned.
“These days the parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is paying an official visit to the Republic of Belarus. Pakistan, like Belarus, has a bicameral parliament,” said Igor Sergeyenko. A meeting with the MPs of the House of Representatives was held today. “We talked about intensification of our contacts, development of trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between our countries and increasing the role of MPs in this process. We came to certain conclusions about the areas in which our interaction should be expanded to develop the economy of our countries, to develop trade and economic cooperation, to make adjustments to the existing legal framework,” Igor Sergeyenko said. “We found common ground on almost all the issues discussed. There is interest in developing mutually beneficial relations”.
The parliamentary delegation of Pakistan is paying a visit to Belarus at the invitation of the House of Representatives.
“I would like to thank you for the invitation to visit Belarus. We have already signed several cooperation agreements. At the current moment, we plan to be actively engaged in their implementation. We plan to work within the parliament and address any possible legislative issues, as well as issues in business, tourism and agriculture, and other sectors,” Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said.
