Belarus' officials discuss air travel with UK amid new COVID strain

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Belarus' Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Maksim Yermolovich has had a telephone conversation with Belarus' Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich and Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko to discuss issues related to the epidemiological situation in the UK, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in London.

The officials discussed the sharp rise in coronavirus case numbers in the United Kingdom and the decision of a number of European countries to ban arrivals from the UK. They exchanged views on possible consequences of the surge in coronavirus cases in the UK for the epidemiological situation in Belarus and travel between the two countries in the upcoming New Year holidays.

“Government agencies of the Republic of Belarus together with the embassy are closely monitoring the situation. Belarus has not suspended flights from and to the United Kingdom,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission said.
