MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) - The draft resolution of the Council of Ministers “On the production and consumption waste management strategy in the Republic of Belarus” has been submitted for public hearing, BelTA learned from the National Legal Internet Portal.
The document focuses on the maximum recycling of production and consumption waste. The main goal is to develop a comprehensive waste treatment system, aimed at ensuring at least 90% of waste recycling by 2040.
The project has been prepared taking into account the principle of carbon neutrality (reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to zero or their compensation through the implementation of environmental projects aimed at absorbing carbon dioxide in the energy use of waste). No increase in the number of administrative procedures performed in relation to business entities is envisaged.
The public hearing is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. From 12 to 22 May, comments and suggestions can be made at the Legal Forum of Belarus.
