Belarus’ national mechanism for SDGs described as effective 

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) - The national mechanism for the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus has proven its worth, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic, National Coordinator for the Sustainable Development Goals Sergei Khomenko said at the second National Forum on Sustainable Development in Minsk on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

"Our national mechanism for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals has passed the test of time and has proven its worth. The national architecture for managing the work on the Sustainable Development Goals is firmly in place in Belarus. We are ready to actively share our experience with other countries and borrow those practices that work effectively from our foreign partners," Sergei Khomenko said.
Belarus remains committed to its international obligations. Led by the national coordinator, the national system for achieving the 17 SDGs is up and running in the country. The level of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus remains high, at 80% against the global level which is incomparably low, only at 20%. Belarus ranks 30th among 166 countries on the SDG index.

Belarus’ Second National Forum on Sustainable Development in Minsk has brought together about 400 participants. The main topics include green transition to inclusive and sustainable growth, social innovations and digital transformation, partnership between business and government for sustainable development, smart cities and sustainable regions of the future.
