MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - The 6th Western China International Fair for Trade and Investment has kicked off in Chongqing. Belarus’ Minsk Oblast is a guest of honor and occupies the central part of the fair, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
“Belarus pays great attention to the development of cooperation with the People's Republic of China. Over the 30-year history since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two heads of state have held 14 personal meetings, and in 2022 the leaders of Belarus and China adopted a joint declaration on taking the relationship to a new level - an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership,” Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin said in his welcome speech. On behalf of the Belarusian government, he expressed gratitude to the chairperson of the People's Government of Chongqing for the invitation.
Minsk Oblast is presenting the potential of the region and the country in general. The central part of the exposition features the Belarusian-Chinese industrial park Great Stone, a joint project with China. “The Belarusian government with the support of the head of state has provided unprecedented preferences to the residents of this unique zone for the development of the latest technologies. Any company from any state can become a resident of the park,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
In his words, Belarus occupies one of the world’s leading positions in the production of high quality food at affordable prices. “We fully ensure our own food security and export significant amounts of food products,” the governor said.
Visitors of the exhibition also had an opportunity to get familiar with the tourism potential of Belarus. “The natural and climatic conditions of our country differ from yours. Big numbers of Belarusian tourists come to China to learn about your centuries-old culture. In turn, Belarus enjoys great popularity among the residents of China,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
As BelTA previously reported, the Minsk Oblast governor took part in the twin-city economic cooperation forum in Chongqing. The forum was attended by leaders from 30 regions and cities, with which Chongqing has established twinning relations. The motto of this year's forum was “Deepening regional cooperation and promoting common development”. The participants discussed investment opportunities and new points of contact to expand economic and technological interregional cooperation.
As part of his visit to Chongqing, Aleksnadr Turchin got familiar with medical equipment from the Zybio company. Visiting the company, which specializes in research and development of reagents and equipment for laboratory diagnostics, immunoanalysis and molecular diagnostics, hematology and microbiology, the Minsk Oblast governor spoke about the healthcare system in Belarus, saying that diagnostics is important for small medical institutions, such as district hospitals, because the earlier a disease is detected, the easier it is to treat. Minsk Oblast plans to send several medical personnel to Chongqing to study the Zybio technique and its operation in hospital conditions.
