MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus' first prototype vaccine might see the light of the day by the end of August, Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told reporters after the meeting with the head of state on 26 March, BelTA has learned.
According to Dmitry Pinevich, the production of a vaccine consists of several stages: first, one needs to get a vaccine in vitro in a test tube setting, then scale it up to a pilot production batch, and only after all the trials are over, the mass production of the vaccine can begin.
“Therefore, a vaccine candidate is expected to appear at the end of August, and a pilot production batch at the end of the year. This batch will then undergo all kinds of tests. We plan to start mass producing the vaccine next year,” the minister said.
