Belarus, Kyrgyzstan to expand cooperation in defense industry

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Kyrgyzstan are strengthening ties in the defense industry. The matter was discussed by Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus Dmitry Pantus and First Deputy Defense Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlis Terdikbayev on the sidelines of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2025 in Minsk on 23 May, BelTA learned from the State Authority for Military Industry. 

The parties reviewed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation and confirmed their mutual interest in ramping up partnerships in the defense industry.

A meeting was also held with Commander of the National Air Force of the Armed Forces of Angola Virgínio António da Cunha Pinto. The participants of the talks examined current and promising projects and explored the possibility to increase Belarus' share in the Angolan arms market.

A delegation of the Armed Forces of Ghana visited our country for the first time to study the capabilities of Belarus' defense sector and discuss promising avenues of cooperation. Dmitry Pantus met with Deputy Minister of Defense of Ghana Ernest Brogya Ghenfi and Chief of Defense Staff of the Armed Forces of Ghana Major General William Agyapong. Ghana's delegation studied the capabilities of the Belarusian defense industry and outlined the priority needs of their armed forces.

On the same day Dmitry Pantus held talks with Commander of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces, General Philip Valerio Sibanda. The parties reviewed progress to implement the cooperation roadmap in the defense industry between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Zimbabwe and identified new areas of cooperation.

Cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan is moving into the practical stage. First Deputy Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus Oleg Mishchenko met with a representative of the Directorate General Defence Purchase of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

During the meeting, the parties took stock of the progress to implement the 2025-2027 cooperation roadmap in the defense sector that was signed during the visit of Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to Belarus in April this year.
