Belarus, Kyrgyzstan sign agreement on personal data protection

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) - The National Personal Data Protection Center of Belarus and the State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan have signed an agreement on cooperation in protecting the rights of personal data subjects, BelTA learned from the center.

The parties agreed on long-term cooperation in the protection of the rights of data subjects and data protection, interaction on issues related to improvement of the national legislation of the two countries in these areas, and also on joint events, scientific research, expert assistance in drafting regulations and law enforcement methods.

According to Director of the National Personal Data Protection Center Andrei Gayev, Belarus would be particularly interested in the practical experience of keeping the register of personal data and their holders (owners) in Kyrgyzstan, as the work is currently underway in Belarus to develop the state information resource “Register of Personal Data Operators”.

Director of the State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Nuria Kutnaeva underlined the interest in the Belarusian experience in implementing educational programs, including professional development, technical and cryptographic protection of information.
