Belarus, Iran interested in closer ties in science, technology

MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Iran are interested in expanding cooperation in science and technology, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee for Science and Technology (SCST).

SCST Chairman Sergei Shlychkov held a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Belarus Saeed Yari.

The parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation between Belarus and Iran in science and technology and outlined steps to advance cooperation between the two countries. The parties also discussed the issues regarding the preparation of the eighth meeting of the Belarusian-Iranian commission on science and technology which is due soon and the organization of joint events with an aim of sharing best practices, promoting contacts between scientific and business communities.

"Belarus and Iran have s lot of points of contact and are well-positioned to develop mutually beneficial ties. By joint efforts, we can harness the potential of bilateral cooperation," Sergei Shlychkov said at the meeting.
