MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) - In the Inhumans documentary on the Belarus 1 TV channel Aleksandr Rudko, Deputy Head of the Investigation Directorate of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Belarus spoke about the atrocities committed by European security forces in the border areas with Belarus and the criminal case launched against representatives of Poland, BelTA has learned.
"As part of the criminal case against the Polish officials we also interrogated the soldier of the Polish army, Emil Czeczko, who defected to Belarus. His testimony is now part of the criminal case. His interviews were video-recorded. He was not subjected to any pressure, either physical or psychological. Emil Czeczko repeatedly brought up these facts. He was interrogated in the presence of law enforcement officers and an interpreter," Aleksandr Rudko said.
He noted that Emil Czeczko revealed horrific facts. "He cited the figure of about 200 people [shot by the Polish security forces]. If you get access to the places that this Polish soldier spoke about, the figure might increase ten times. Emil Czeczko said that at least 24 people were shot near one pit at a time. He received multiple assignments like this. Emil Czeczko was not the only soldier who, at gunpoint from higher military, shot the refugees," he stressed.
Based on Emil Czeczko’s testimony, we made e-fits which have also made part of the criminal case. "We sent inquiries for legal assistance to Poland. We asked to interrogate certain persons identified by the Polish soldier. But we have never received a response," Aleksandr Rudko stated.
Aleksandr Rudko spoke about one of the cases of a young woman dying at the hands of European security forces. "We found her right in the border area. The whole family was next to her. This happened in front of the children, in front of the husband. Almost the entire family watched their mother and wife die. This woman could have been helped in Poland but, as the husband explained, they were pushed back. When they were found by our border guards, the woman was already dead," he said.
