
MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in developing inter-regional cooperation with Russia’s Primorye Territory, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Governor of Russia's Primorye Territory Oleg Kozhemyako, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus and Primorye Territory have developed friendly relations. Aleksandr Grigorievich, our president, meets with you quite often and always says that Primorye Territory, despite its distance, is not a foreign land. We know that our good friends and brothers live there,” Natalya Kochanova noted. “We need to continue to interact, and this interaction can permeate all areas. That said, inter-regional cooperation is very important for us. Our president attaches great importance to this. Last year alone, 36 delegations headed by governors of the Russian Federation visited our country. Aleksandr Grigorievich always meets with governors. More than 100 visits at the level of deputy governors, ministers, which suggests quite close cooperation.”
The speaker emphasized that inter-regional cooperation is very important for the Council of the Republic, which is a body of territorial representation. “We attach special importance to this area of work,” said Natalya Kochanova. “We are currently preparing for the Forum of Regions. The 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Nizhny Novgorod this year. I think you will be there. Already 77 regions of the Russian Federation have signed up to participate in this forum, and absolutely all regions of Belarus will take part in it,” the speaker added.
