MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – The level of relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China corresponds to all-weather and all-round strategic partnership. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Karanik made the statement in a speech at the 2025 International Medical Innovation and Cooperation Forum (IMICF), the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

According to the deputy prime minister, Belarus has been a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2024 and vigorously takes part in events under the organization’s aegis.

“Our country carries out research and development with foreign partners within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union and now the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Belarus expands academic mobility programs and actively invites foreign manufacturers to cooperate in localizing the manufacturing of medications and equipment,” Vladimir Karanik said.

The deputy prime minister underlined that all-weather and all-round strategic partnership is not just words. The partnership is vividly confirmed by the fact that President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko made two visits to the People’s Republic of China in 2023 in order to have personal meetings with China President Xi Jinping. As a result of these meetings the heads of state identified the expansion of cooperation in healthcare, medical technologies, and pharmaceutics as a main strategic avenue.

Vladimir Karanik remarked that Belarus is intent on an active dialogue with international partners in the field of healthcare and is open to cooperation. The first exhibition of Chinese medical equipment successfully took place in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone in September 2024. During the exhibition over 30 leading Chinese manufacturers presented their cutting-edge products.

“A lot of attention is paid in our country to traditional Chinese medicine. A project to create a regional center of traditional Chinese medicine in Belarus is in the active development stage. We are convinced that such a center will allow making methods of traditional Chinese medicine accessible not only for Belarusian citizens but for citizens of a larger part of the Eurasian region,” the deputy prime minister said.

The 30th international medical forum Healthcare of Belarus took place a short while ago. Over 160 companies from eight countries participated in this forum in Belarus. Representatives of the People’s Republic of China took an active part in the forum as well.
