Belarus, India to develop scientific, innovation cooperation

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - Belarus and India are set to develop scientific, technological and innovation cooperation. The issue was discussed at a meeting of Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Sergei Shlychkov with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Alok Ranjan Jha, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.

“The State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus shares India's position about the importance of cooperation in science, technologies and innovations for both countries. We have enough points of contact and good prospects for the development of interaction,” said Sergei Shlychkov.

The joint Indian-Belarusian commission for cooperation in science and technology hold meetings on a regular basis. The parties agreed to coordinate the dates and agenda of the 10th session of the commission via diplomatic channels in the near future.

The parties also agreed to hold a joint business matchmaking session “Belarus-India: Partnership for Innovation” by the end of the year in order to intensify bilateral scientific, technological and innovation cooperation in biotechnologies and new materials.

The State Committee on Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology of India are currently holding a contest for joint Belarusian-Indian scientific and technological projects for 2022-2023 in the following areas: information and communication technologies with a focus on artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, computer-aided learning, cloud services, new materials, biotechnology, including medicine and pharmaceuticals.

In late 2021, Belarus' export of high-tech goods to India amounted to $343.1 million.
