MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – The export of Belarusian science-intensive and hi-tech products in 2019 reached nearly $15 billion, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Aleksandr Shumilin told a press conference on 21 January, BelTA has learned.
In 2019 science-intensive and hi-tech products accounted for 35.6% of Belarus' export, up 2.5 percentage points over 2018. “In monetary terms the export of hi-tech products is estimated at nearly $15 billion. The increase in the information and communications sector alone made up about $.0.5 billion,” Aleksandr Shumilin said.
The demand for Belarusian intellectual property is growing. In 2019 the export of intellectual property rights exceeded $100 million, up 40% year-on-year. “Our solutions arouse great interest abroad. Foreign companies are ready to buy them,” he said.
In 2019, the number of contracts to transfer industrial property rights rose 13% over 2018.
