Belarus government bans export of some medical products

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian government has temporarily forbidden the export of certain medical products, BelTA has learned.

The list includes disposable overalls and hazmat suits, respirators, surgical gowns, masks, shoe wrappers, bandages, cotton wool, gauze, and various kinds of medical gloves.

The prohibition also applies to sets of clothes for medics, respiratory gear, and some other products.

These goods cannot be transported out of the country regardless of their country of destination.

The prohibition does not apply to the export of goods intended as humanitarian aid to other countries upon the government's authorization or to the export of personal-use goods by individuals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to notify the Eurasian Economic Commission about the prohibition and submit to the commission a proposal for other Eurasian Economic Union member states to introduce similar measures.

The main provisions of the prohibition come into effect as of the publication day. They will stay in effect till 1 June and will be applied to relations that emerged on 16 March and later on.
