Belarus’ FM lays wreath at Tomb of Unknown Soldier in Moscow

MOSCOW, 10 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow on 10 June. The ceremony took place as part of the official visit of the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs to the Russian Federation, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs observed a moment of silence to remember the victims of the Great Patriotic War. He also laid flowers at the memorial signs Minsk Hero City and Brest Hero Fortress.

Maksim Ryzhenkov is also expected to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The parties are set to discuss a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and the international agenda. The parties will also discuss practical aspects of the Belarusian-Russian ministerial interaction, including preparations for the joint board meeting of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia, which is slated to take place in St. Petersburg in Q4 2025. The parties will take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the program of concerted actions in the foreign policy of the member states of the Union State Treaty for 2024-2025 and the plan of ministerial consultations for the current year.

Special attention at the ministerial talks will be paid to the topic of common indivisible security on the Eurasian continent. The parties will review the preparations for the Third Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security. Plans are in place to sign a joint address to the foreign ministers of Eurasian states on the theme of promoting the Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century. The parties are also expected to raise the topic of diplomatic support of integration processes in the Union State and interstate cooperation in the CIS, EAEU, CSTO, SCO, BRICS, with constructive states of the Global South and East, as well as building relations with unfriendly countries and associations.

The ministers also plan to exchange views on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, including in the context of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian talks.
