Belarus' first COVID-19 vaccine to be launched in late 2023

MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The market launch of Belarus' first COVID-19 vaccine is scheduled for the end of 2023, First Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Krotkova said at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic, BelTA has learned.

“A Belarusian prototype vaccine has been developed. Laboratory tests have proved its efficacy in terms of boosting cellular and humoral immunity, as well as the absence of toxic effects. This proccess involves the use of a bioreactor. A trial batch is to be released in September-October 2022. Subsequent pre-clinical studies are now under discussion. The first stage of the construction of the production facility and the purchase of technological equipment are underway. The market launch of Belarus' first COVID-19 vaccine is scheduled for the end of 2023,” Yelena Krotkova said.

She assured that the vaccine would be effective against all variants of coronavirus circulating in Belarus.
