MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Belarus' export of medical services is projected to increase by more than 40% in the next five years. This target is set forth in the state program "People's Health and Demographic Security" for 2021-2025, BelTA has learned.
The export of healthcare services is forecast to increase by 44.7% in 2025 over 2020.
In 2019, the export of medical services went up by 10.5% over 2018. More than 165,000 foreign nationals from 139 countries received medical care.
Export promotion efforts will rely on the annual plans of joint actions of the ministries of healthcare and foreign affairs to develop trade and economic cooperation with foreign countries.
An information campaign is planned to promote the export of healthcare services.
Plans are also in place to boost the export of telemedicine services. Access of foreign citizens to Belarusian telemedicine services will be facilitated.
Telemedicine consulting technologies are provided by 262 health organizations, according to the state program. In 2019, more than 21,000 consultations were given (about 8,000 in 2018). Telemedicine provides an opportunity to improve the availability and quality of healthcare to people, regardless of where they live.
