Belarus expects that Poland will return to fulfilling its obligations on refugees

MINSK,11 October (BelTA) - The Belarusian State Border Committee expects that Poland will return to fulfilling its obligations on refugees, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

"We express the hope that Poland will return to fulfilling its obligations under international law in relation to all refugees in need of protection and asylum without exception," the State Border Committee said.

The State Border Committee noted that the Polish Border Guard has accused Belarusian border guards but provided no evidence. On Twitter Polish border guards claimed that the State Border Committee of Belarus has mislead the public by its report "Poland expells refugee families. This time families with disabled children."

"The Polish Border Guard says that the family from Iraq with a disabled child has been in one of the Polish hospitals for several days. We hope that this is true,” State Border Committee said. “After numerous but unsuccessful attempts to force a group of refugees to Belarus, which included the Iraqi family with the disabled child, the Polish security forces took these foreigners away, indeed. "

The State Border Committee added that Poland issued a response almost a week after the report was issued. “The further fate of the refugees from this group is unknown," the State Border Committee noted.
