Belarus' deploying more troops to Ukrainian border described as appropriate response to provocations

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) — Belarus's decision to boost troops at the Ukrainian border is an appropriate response to provocations, Moldovan economist and analyst  Serghei Banari said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert explained why Ukraine is provoking Belarus. “You have a common air defense system with Russia. You have the Union State. Therefore, Ukraine is testing the waters to see whether Belarus has changed its position," Serghei Banari said. According to him, it may be related to Western Ukraine and Poland's interest "in the annexation of Western Ukraine".

"Perhaps, it is in this context that they are testing the position of Belarus," Serghei Banari stressed. "As far as I see, Lukashenko’s position has been firm: "We are the Union State, we stand together." Accordingly, Belarus' decision to deploy more troops to the Ukrainian border is an appropriate response to provocations from the Kiev-controlled territory of Ukraine.”
