MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) - Observers from all participating states of the Vienna Document have been invited to observe the Zapad 2025 military exercise, Valery Revenko, Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Belarusian Defense Minister, said at a briefing for the press titled “Zapad 2025 joint strategic exercise in the context of the military and political situation”, BelTA learned.
“To maintain regional security and restore trust and good-neighborly relations in Europe, the Republic of Belarus is committed to ensuring maximum openness and transparency in its military activities. In this regard, in accordance with the Vienna Document on confidence- and security-building measures, OSCE participating states were notified as early as 2024 about the upcoming joint strategic exercise Zapad 2025 by the armed forces of Belarus and the Russian Federation scheduled for September this year,” Valery Revenko said.
"On 31 July, the Belarusian side provided detailed information about the exercise and extended observation invitations to all participating states of the Vienna Document without exception. “The countries that send observers will be able to verify the openness and transparency of the maneuvers for themselves. Furthermore, all foreign military attachés accredited to Belarus’ Ministry of Defense, including representatives from nine NATO member states, will have observation access to the exercise. Observation invitations for certain episodes of the exercise have also been extended to other countries and international organizations, including the CSTO, CIS, and SCO," Valery Revenko noted.

“All of this serves as unequivocal proof that the Republic of Belarus remains committed to regional security. We firmly oppose the ongoing large-scale militarization that is disrupting the balance of power in Europe, a process that ultimately undermines global strategic stability,” Valery Revenko added.
