MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) - The updated version of the military doctrine specifies types of military conflicts, Belarus’ Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin said at a briefing for journalists, BelTA has learned.
"We have clarified the categorization of military conflicts so that it will better fit the realities of the Republic of Belarus; we have dropped their gradation by scale. The categories of local and regional wars were replaced by the categories of interstate and coalition wars. After all, any war, be it local or regional, will affect the entire territory of Belarus and will require the mobilization of all forces," said Viktor Khrenin.
At the same time, the defence minister pointed out that by introducing the concept of "an interstate war" Belarus makes an important statement that it is ready to defend its vital national interests independently.
"The concept of "a coalition war" means that the victory in such a war will be achieved by using Belarusian troops together with the troops of the country’s allies," the defense minister stressed.
