MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian customs service has digitally registered around 1,100 shipments of transit goods transported by railway along the route Naushki-Brest, completely removing paper document flow, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
The project was launched in April. It has been implemented by the customs bodies of Belarus and Russia in cooperation with the railway administrations of the two countries.
The project provides for transition to digital document flow in the activities concerning registration and transportation of transit cargo by container trains on the route from Russia's Naushki to Belarus' Brest. The transition helps eliminate customs procedures with paper documents, which expedites the process of transit cargo customs clearance.
“At present, the Belarusian customs service is negotiating the launch of a similar project in reverse direction, on the route Brest-Naushki,” the State Customs Committee noted.
