Belarus continues to relocate refugees into heated accommodation

GRODNO, 17 November (BelTA) – Belarus continues to relocate the refugees into heated accommodation, the Belarusian Sate Border Committee told BelTA.

"About 2,000 refugees continue to stay near the Belarusian-Polish border. They spent the last night in three places: some of them remained near the checkpoint, some - in the makeshift camp in the forest,” the State Border Committee said. “About 1,000 people most affected by the actions of the Polish security forces, and also women and children spent the night in relatively acceptable conditions for the first time in the last 9 days: in a transport and logistics center near the border. People were examined by doctors the night before, 4 people turned for help during the night. "

The Belarusian side provided the refugees with hot meals both in the logistics center and in heated tents in the camp near the border. The authorities and public organizations regularly bring water, warm clothes, hygiene products and other humanitarian aid. People who decided to spend the night outdoors were repeatedly invited to take shelter in the logistics center.

In the morning of 17 November, it was decided to relocate some part of refugees into other places.

The Investigative Committee is looking into the use of special means and ammunition against unarmed citizens on the grounds of the Bruzgi checkpoint.
