Belarus continues to provide assistance to refugees stranded on border with EU

GRODNO, 27 December (BelTA) – Belarus continues to provide assistance to the refugees staying in a transportation and logistics hub, Igor Gedich, a member of the Council of the Republic, told the media, BelTA has learned

27 December is the 50th day of refugees at the border. Now they are living in the accommodation facility in the Bruzgi transport and logistics center near the Belarusian-Polish border. There are about 600 people here, many women and children among them.

“There have been no incidents requiring urgent attention. Work is carried out in a routine mode. We have been fulfilling the president's instructions. He said that these people need help, need to be taken care of. About 40 people are providing help to the refugees and they are doing their job well,” Igor Gedich said. In his words, more than 190 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been provided to refugees. This is not only food, but also warm clothes, footwear, hygiene products and bedding. People's individual requests are fulfilled.

The focus is also on refugee children. “A mobile educational center has been working her for the second day. Grodno teachers-psychologists and refugee volunteers work with the children. All organizational matters have been settled. The five-day training week begins,” said Igor Gedich.

Medics continue to be on standby 24/7. About 50 people have addressed medics over the past 24 hours. Two children and three adult refugees are in the hospitals of the city.

There is also a mobile bathhouse near the center.
