Belarus' constitutional referendum hailed as well-organized

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) - The referendum was held at a high organizational level, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko told the media on 3 March, BelTA has learned.

“According to the information we have today, including the one from the observers, the referendum was organized in accordance with the current legislation. We have received a conclusion from international observers who worked here during the referendum. A total of 195 international observers worked at the referendum. The number of national observers exceeded 45,000 people. The coordinated work of everyone showed that the referendum was held at a high organizational level,” Igor Karpenko said.

The Central Election Commission of Belarus held its final meeting to review the results of the nationwide referendum on 3 March. The commission consisted of 12 people. The meeting also featured chairpersons of the oblast and Minsk city referendum commissions, representatives of regions, observers accredited by the Central Election Commission and over 20 mass media representatives.
