MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Belarus clinched one gold and one silver medals at the World Championships in Fire and Rescue 2021 in Karaganda, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.
The 16th World Championship for Men and the 7th World Championship for Women in Fire and Rescue (Fire-Applied) 2021 kicked off in Karaganda, Kazakhstan on 2 September. “From the very morning the athletes competed in climbing the assault ladder to the floors of the training tower. The evening program included an opening ceremony of the event and the final races at Shakhtar Stadium,” the report says.
The event was attended by Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Siniavsky, his counterpart from Kazakhstan Yuri Ilyin, Russia's First Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters Alexander Chupriyan and Akim of Karaganda Region Zhenis Kasymbek.
Irina Zinovich from Belarus finished fourth in the women's final. Nikita Ukolov and Anton Tarasevich took part in the men's final. Nikita Ukolov became world champion with the result of 12.89 seconds and Anton Tarasevich claimed silver. Following the results of the first competition day, the Belarusian men's team ranked first, the women's team placed second.
The Belarusian emergencies ministry congratulated the teams on successful performance. “What you have done is a decent result, I sincerely congratulate you on it. You should not however feel complacent as the competitions continue. We are rooting for you,” said Vadim Siniavsky.
