
MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian Union of Journalists and the Gansu Daily newspaper, China have agreed to actively utilize modern information exchange tools and have launched a new media platform for this purpose. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists Andrei Krivosheyev, a delegation of Belarusian media representatives and the Gansu Daily newspaper in Lanzhou, Gansu Province of China, BelTA has learned.
Belarusian journalists explored the diverse activities of Gansu Daily, engaging in constructive discussions with their Chinese counterparts. Attending the meeting were also representatives from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local government officials, media representatives from Gansu Province, and Vice President of the All-China Journalists Association Li Xiaojun.


The director general of the Gansu Daily newspaper and the chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists expressed keen interest in further strengthening information cooperation within the framework of the all-weather and all-round Belarus-China strategic partnership.
Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Gansu Province Zhao Jun, the director general of Gansu Daily, Andrei Krivosheyev, Deputy Chairwoman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society and BelTA’s senior columnist Alina Grishkevich officially launched a new media platform to exchange information.

The cooperation between the Belarusian Union of Journalists and the Gansu Daily newspaper began in 2023 with the signing of an agreement on exchange and cooperation between the union, the Minsk Novosti agency, and the Communication Center of Gansu Province, the GanSu Media television and radio company. The document, signed during a visit of a Gansu journalist delegation, including Propaganda Department Chief Zhang Yongxia, to Belarus aims to create an informational platform for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in journalism, coordination of planned events, organizing visits, joint interviews, press tours, internships for Belarusian journalists in China and vice versa, and participation in joint projects.
Since 2023, the international communication center of Gansu Province has had an office in the Belarusian Union of Journalists. In August 2023, the union participated in the 6th Forum on Innovation and Media Integration in Gansu Province, during which the union’s representative office in the international communication center of Gansu was officially inaugurated.
Following the visit of GanSu Media Group journalists to Belarus in August 2023, a series of video reports on Belarus were broadcast via Gansu New Media information portals. With the support of Gansu's media sector, a series of reports were prepared on the performances of the Kupalinka folk group, which presented traditional Belarusian culture at the 6th Silk Road International Cultural Expo in Dunhuang and Lanzhou in September 2023.
The latest agreements reached during the May 2025 meeting in Lanzhou pave the way to expand Belarus-China media exchanges.
