Belarus, China interested in tighter cooperation in cyber security

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – The Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China are interested in stepping up the exchange of practices and in expanding cooperation in the sphere of cyber security, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming on 13 March.

The diplomat noted that leaders of both countries pay close attention to the development of information technologies and to cyber security. Thus, information security in Belarus and the draft relevant concept was discussed at a session of the Security Council involving Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko the day before. The ambassador said: “Both countries have good practice in this field. We are going to even deeper cooperate and share experience.”

Cui Qiming said that Belarusian and Chinese companies had managed to establish intensive cooperation in the area of cyber and information security. “I am convinced there is a great potential for cooperation in this sphere. As strategic partners Belarus and China intend to step it up,” the ambassador added.

Cui Qiming took part in the fifth international science and practice conference Big Data and Advanced Analytics. The conference was timed to the 55th anniversary of establishment of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. The diplomat noted that the forum, during which cyber security matters were being discussed among other things, demonstrated a high level of Belarus in this sphere.

The conference's organizers include the Belarusian Education Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. The university's Rector Vadim Bogush noted that the forum covers more and more areas every year. During this year's forum experts are expected to discuss the use of Big Data to optimize IT, business, and manufacturing solutions. Big Data solutions for healthcare, education, and ecology will be discussed as well as technologies and tools for high-level analytics.

This year's conference has attracted specialists from 32 countries, up from 19 in 2018. Speakers from internationally recognized companies such as IBM, Fastdev (Sweden), Wargaming (Belarus), and EPAM (Belarus) will make reports during the conference.

An exhibition of R&D products and textbooks has been arranged as part of the forum. Master classes for university students have been organized. Apart from that, a roundtable session will take place on 14 March to discuss social risks of Big Data technologies, problems and prospects of education networking and virtualization in conditions of Industrial Revolution 4.0. Media security and other topical matters will be discussed as well.
