MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) - The Central Election Commission of Belarus certified the presidential election results at a session in Minsk on 3 February, BelTA has learned.
"The CEC has certified the election results based on the voting protocols submitted by the regional and Minsk City election commissions," Igor Karpenko said.
The total number of voters nationwide amounted to 6,903,994. A total of 5,916,834 voters received ballots. Some 5,916,195 voters cast their ballots.
A total of 2,887,052 voters voted early. As many as 278,850 voters cast their ballots at home. On election day, the number of voters who cast their ballots at the polling stations totaled 2,750,293.
The following number of votes was cast for every candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Belarus:
Oleg Gaidukevich – 119,272 votes;
Anna Kanopatskaya – 109,760 votes;
Aleksandr Lukashenko – 5,136,293 votes;
Sergei Syrankov – 189,740 votes;
Aleksandr Khizhnyak – 102,789 votes;
None of the above – 213,277 voters.
"Aleksandr Lukashenko has been elected President of the Republic of Belarus with a total of 5,136,293 (or 86.82%) votes. This is more than half of the citizens of Belarus who took part in the voting," emphasized Yelena Baldovskaya, Secretary of the Central Election Commission.
