MOSCOW, 8 July (BelTA) - Belarus suggested holding consultations of experts on the principles of military cooperation of the CSTO member states at a meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council on 7 July, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.
“Referring to the earlier position on the draft resolution of the CSTO Collective Security Council ‘On the guidelines of military cooperation between the CSTO member states and NATO member states' Belarus suggested holding consultations of experts of appropriate ministries and departments of member states on this issue,” the spokesman said.
The CSTO Permanent Council considered and partially finalized the following drafts: a statement by the permanent representatives of the CSTO member states to NATO on military activity in the territories adjacent to the CSTO's area of responsibility and its impact on Eurasian security; a statement by the CSTO member states "On strengthening UN-CSTO peacekeeping cooperation"; a joint statement of the CSTO member states “On the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site"; a joint statement by the CSTO foreign ministers on approaches to the participation of civil society and non-governmental organizations in OSCE activities; a resolution of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers "On the list of topics of joint statements in 2022."
The CSTO Permanent Council also considered and finalized the draft resolution "On the chairman of the CSTO interstate commission on military and economic cooperation”.
In addition, Hasan Sultonov, Tajikistan's Permanent And Plenipotentiary Representative to the CSTO, informed the members of the Permanent Council about the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border.
