Belarus' BSUIR to step up cooperation with Uzbekistan's universities

MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Uzbekistan's Minister for Information Technologies and Communications Shuhrat Sadikov visited the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) on 1 June, BelTA learned from BSUIR's press service.

The parties discussed cooperation between BSUIR and universities of Uzbekistan, in particular, the Tashkent University of Information Technologies.

“We are honored to welcome the Uzbekistani delegation at BSUIR. We have a good history of cooperation and areas of mutual interest. We intend to discuss new areas of cooperation during this visit,” BSUIR Rector Vadim Bogush said.

Information and communication technology has become one of the priority areas of Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation, Uzbekistan's Minister for Information Technologies and Communications Shuhrat Sadikov noted.

Vadim Bogush informed the Uzbekistani delegation about BSUIR's activities, educational and scientific capacities, and research projects. One of BSUIR's main partners in Uzbekistan is the Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT). The universities signed an agreement on joint training of students from Uzbekistan and set up a joint faculty of information technology at TUIT. In line with the agreement, students study at TUIT or its regional branches for the first two years and at BSUIR for another two years. Graduates of the joint faculty get diplomas of both the universities.

Shuhrat Sadikov also outlined proposals to carry out joint research in IT, launch internships for students and teachers from Uzbekistan at BSUIR, and open retraining courses. The parties also discussed opening new bachelor's and master's programs, with BSUIR teachers giving classes at TUIT, and organizing the educational process during the pandemic, so that students from Uzbekistan could continue their studies at BSUIR.
