Belarus' border service: Truck queues on EU border down by 61%

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) - The number of trucks queuing to enter the European Union has decreased by 61% since the beginning of the week, the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Over the past 24 hours, the EU border checkpoints fulfilled the agreements only by 73%, letting through 2,213 out of 3,026 queuing trucks.

The Polish border crossing Bobrowniki (Berestovitsa on the Belarusian side) accommodated 312 trucks, with the throughput capacity at 500.

No delays were registered at the border with Ukraine.

As of 10.00, more than 20 trucks were queuing at the Urbany checkpoint on the Belarusian-Latvian border.

More than 60 trucks were waiting to cross the border with Lithuania at the Vidzy checkpoint, more than 10 at Kotlovka, over 50 at Kamenny Log, over 120 at Benyakoni, and over 130 at Privalka.

Over 80 trucks were waiting to cross the Belarusian-Polish border at Berestovitsa and over 20 at Kozlovichi.

The State Border Committee stated that on 9 November Poland unilaterally shut its Kuznica Bialostocka border crossing (Bruzgi on Belarus' side).

"We recommend choosing alternative routes for crossing the state border," the committee said.
