MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) - The Belarusian State Border Committee denied the information about the death of a child among migrants on the Belarusian-Polish border, the committee's official representative Anton Bychkovsky told BelTA.
"The State Border Committee refutes the information about the death of a child among migrants on the Belarusian-Polish border," Anton Bychkovsky said. “At night, one of the minors became ill. The boy was examined by doctors who are constantly on duty at the makeshift camp on the border. They diagnosed hypothermia and provided immediate medical care. Once his condition was stabilized, he returned to his family."
Some internet resources informed about the death of a child from hypothermia in a migrant camp on the border with Poland.
According to the State Border Committee, the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border remains tense. “More than 2,000 refugees, including women and children, are living and sleeping on the ground in freezing temperatures, in desperate need of food, water and medicines. All of them do not regard Belarus as their final destination and openly express their intention to go to the EU countries to ask for protection. The EU has made no constructive attempts to resolve the situation. In addition to gross violations of its international obligations in the field of human rights, Poland has also made attempts to organize provocations,” the committee said.
