Belarus attends CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Moscow

MOSCOW, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov is participating in a meeting of the the CIS Foreign Ministers Council in Moscow on 7 October. The event is taking place in the run-up to the СIS summit, BelTA has learned.

The ministers are set to exchange views on topical issues on the international agenda and interaction between the CIS countries.

The participants of the meeting are expected to discuss and approve the statement on cooperation in physical education and sport by the CIS ministers of foreign affairs.
The ministries are also set to adopt the plan of multi-level ministerial consultations for 2025, the 2025-2026 action plan to the Strategy of international youth cooperation, the 2024-2025 action plan as Ashgabat is declared the city of CIS new sports opportunities.

The meeting is expected to decide on the establishment of four new CIS basic organizations in advocacy, mass media and volunteer movement development.

At the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of the members of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov welcomed Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov, who is taking part in the meeting for the first time.
