MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) - The Armed Forces of Belarus cherish the memory of the generation of victors and their heroic deeds, Leonid Kasinsky, assistant to the Belarusian Defense Minister, told reporters during the launch of the On Air Marathon “Belarus Remembers. Flowers of the Great Victory”, BelTA has learned.
“The Armed Forces of Belarus hold sacred the memory of the generation of victors and their heroic deeds. Today, our most important task is to make sure young people understand the price of Victory and our peaceful life. The Armed Forces will do everything to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again," said Leonid Kasinsky.
According to him, the events to mark the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory are held all over the country. “The Defense Ministry is holding events to honor war veterans. Young Belarusians are actively involved in this work, as they should preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War and its heroes for future generations,” Leonid Kasinsky said. “Recently we have summed up the results of the competition for the best drawing dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory. The ministry has launched a symbolic countdown to the Victory Day. Every day the Defense Ministry posts patriotic poems and songs performed by both military personnel and civilians in its media outlets, website and Telegram channel. Today, the ministry together with the BRSM Youth Union launched the On Air marathon ‘Belarus Remembers. Flowers of Great Victory'. The Victory is sacred for us,” he added.
The marathon will be running through 8 May. It will also be available on the internet to reach a bigger audience. Online live broadcasts of the marathon will be held daily from 15:00 to 16:30. They will feature interviews with war veterans, excerpts from Aleksei Dudarevs's plays staged by the Drama Theater of the Belarusian Army, poems about the war, and songs performed by Belarusian singers and bands.
The marathon makes part of the nationwide patriotic project “Flowers of Great Victory”. Its main symbol is a red and green ribbon with an apple tree blossom.
