MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) - German friends have traveled a long way to show their commitment to developing relations with Belarusian partners, Boris Batura, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian public organization Twin Cities, said at the 12th meeting of representatives of the twin cities of Belarus and Germany in Minsk on 18 November, BelTA has learned.
"On behalf of the Belarusian Public Association Twin Cities and on my own behalf, I would like to welcome our reliable partners in public diplomacy - representatives of German sister cities. We know how difficult the travel between our countries is today. It is all the more valuable that our German friends have traveled this way and thus showed their commitment to our relations, our friendship," Boris Batura stressed.
He noted: "A few years ago, the Federal Association of German Organizations for Cooperation with Eastern European Countries, the co-organizer of these meetings, developed recommendations entitled: ‘10 Good Reasons for Partnership of German Cities with Belarusian Ones’. The first point reads: ‘To overcome the boundaries, you need to become active’. These words are relevant today both literally and figuratively."
"We are also glad to see representatives of Belarusian cities, (both from local authorities and from public organizations) because your participation in beef up the national resource needed to strengthen the sister city movement," Boris Batura said.
The meeting brought together representatives of eight cities of Germany and ten Belarusian cities.
