Back-to-school ceremonies taking place in Belarus on 2 September

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Back-to-school ceremonies will be held in all schools of Belarus on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

More than 2,600 secondary education institutions will re-open for the new academic year; about 1.07 million students will study there, including about 105,000 first-graders.

Every first-grader in the country will traditionally receive a book as a gift “Belarus is our Motherland. A Letter from the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko to First-Graders”.

Five educational institutions will be put into operation in the new academic year. The Kindergarten - Primary School in Vitebsk is designed for 850 students, of which 290 places are for elementary school students. Two secondary education institutions will open in Minsk Oblast: one for 930 students in Soligorsk and the other for 1,020 students in the village of Kopishche, Borovlyany Village Council. Minsk Gymnasium No. 42 will move to a new building for 1,020 places in the Lebyazhy neighborhood. A new school building will open in Mogilev.

The first lesson will be titled “We have something to be proud of, we have something to cherish!” In the Year of Quality and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, students will discuss the biggest achievements of Belarusian people, the values ​​​​that are important to preserve for the sake of the future.

More than 57,000 students will get a ride to their schools. About 1,600 school buses will be used for this.

In the new academic year, 3,700 preschool institutions for about 355,000 young Belarusians will open in the country.
