Azerbaijan looks to build up cooperation with Belarus

GYZYL KANGARLI, 6 May (BelTA) – Azerbaijan hopes to expand cooperation with Belarus in the revival of territories, Special Representative of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the districts of Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend Emin Huseynov said during a visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin to these territories, BelTA has learned.

Emin Huseynov described Gyzyl Kangarli as one of the most picturesque villages in Aghdam District. "Aghdam was once a regional center, one of Azerbaijan’s most important districts in terms of population density and economic infrastructure. Unfortunately, during the occupation, the entire district, including this village, was completely destroyed, and now we are working to revive it," he explained.

One of the biggest challenges, according to him, is that the district is located directly on the former front line and was heavily mined. "The restoration process is underway. We have spent a significant amount of time on planning, demining, and laying basic infrastructure. All of this work is being carried out under the Great Return state program, funded entirely by the state budget, without external assistance," he emphasized.

Emin Huseynov noted that friendly and brotherly nations are providing technical support to Azerbaijan. "Belarus plays a key role in mutually beneficial cooperation. We have maintained close ties in the delivery of construction materials, including wood products and others," he pointed out. "We aim to continue working on the restoration of this village. We are actively developing a project initiated by the Belarusian side and hope to strengthen cooperation in the future."
