Azarov: Western public completely unaware scale of repression against dissidents in Ukraine

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – The Western public is completely unaware of the scale of repression against dissidents in Ukraine, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.

"The regime that carried out a coup d'état in Ukraine with the help of the West is transforming into an openly Nazi one. Suffice it to say that all elections, both  parliamentary and also presidential elections, have been abolished. All political parties have been banned, and political opponents are killed. Very little is said about this abroad. The public in the West is absolutely unaware of the scale of repression against dissidents. Not just against dissidents, against anyone they see as a dissenting voice," Nikolai Azarov said.

According to the former prime minister of Ukraine, this is an unprecedented case: "Even Hitler, having occupied part of the Soviet Union, did not ban the Orthodox Church, as you know. The churches functioned. In some cases he did interfere, in others he didn’t. But in any case he did not ban its activities."
