Belarus to have at least two fan zones at 2020 Tokyo Olympics

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The agreement on the Belarusian fan zone in Tachikawa during the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Japan was reached at a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Japan Ruslan Yesin and Tachikawa Mayor Shohei Shimizu, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“The parties reached an agreement to set up a Belarusian fan zone in the city of Tachikawa for the period of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in summer 2020. This fan zone will get the Japanese people familiar with the Belarusian culture, export opportunities, as well as tourism potential, including medical tourism,” representatives of the embassy said.

The fan zone in Tachikawa will be the second fan zone planned in Tokyo during the sporting event. Earlier, Belarus had agreed with the authorities of the city of Shiroishi to set up a similar fan zone.

The Summer Olympic Games will take place in Tokyo from 24 July to 9 August 2020. A total of 339 medal events will be held in 33 sports.
