MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) - The 18th edition of the CIS international competition The Art of the Book will be held in Kazakhstan in 2021 and will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
This decision was taken during a web-based meeting of the Interstate Council for Cooperation in Periodicals, Book Publishing, Book Distribution and Printing on 20 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
"The 30th anniversary of the CIS will also the central theme of the CIS joint exhibition at the 28th installment of the Minsk International Book Fair scheduled for February 2021. Members of the council stressed that organizing such a stand will be a relevant addition to national expositions of the participating countries,” the press service noted.
In addition, the council discussed the organization of the contest of book retailers of the CIS countries, promotion of reading in the CIS, analyzed the status of implementation of decisions made at the previous session, and elected a new chairman. Kazakhstan Vice Minister of Culture and Sports Nurgisa Daueshov will take up this post in 2021.
The Interstate Council for Cooperation in Periodicals, Book Publishing, Book Distribution and Printing brought together representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the Association of Book Distributors of the CIS states, and the CIS Executive Committee.
