MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Belarusian State University (BSU) hosted the Nowruz festival on 25 March, the university's press service told BelTA.
The press service noted that the festival is dedicated to the arrival of spring and celebrated among Iranian and Turkic peoples on 21 March. Nearly 500 international students of BSU - representatives of Azerbaijan, India, Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - took part in the large-scale event.
This event traditionally represents the diversity of nations and their cultures. The themed areas, decorated to reflect the traditions and features of different peoples, offered an opportunity to explore works of art and literature, national costumes, attributes, household items and to enjoy traditional dishes. The festival participants were also able to attend workshops on calligraphy, conducting tea ceremony and portrait painting.
The evening program featured instrumental and dance performances by artists, vocal compositions in various languages, and a fashion show of national costumes. The Tamazur eastern dance studio performed the Palestinian folk dance Dabkeh. The Khaymur creative group introduced visitors to the music of Inner Mongolia. The Kavkaz dance school presented a traditional Lezginka dance.
The festival was organized by the Council of Communities, the Department of Youth Educational Work and the Department of Cultural Affairs of BSU.
