Army exercise for signal troops in progress in Belarus

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Units of the signal troops are carrying out combat training missions as part of a special tactical exercise in several parts of Belarus, the Defense Ministry told BelTA.

A system to provide communications and electronic support has been deployed to ensure steady control of Air Force and Air Defense units: dozens of field communication nodes have been set up as well as over 30 radio relay lines and 15 fiber optic channels as long as 45km.

On 23 September units of the 56th Independent Signal Regiment enabled units of the Russian Aerospace Forces to carry out bomb strikes against targets in the 210th aviation exercise area. The signal troops worked as part of the general system designed to control aerial units in four army exercise areas. The signal troops also accompanied an assault landing in the exercise area Brestsky. The troops did an excellent job, Commander of the 56th Independent Signal Regiment, Colonel Andrei Savchenko said.

The signal troops continue carrying out combat training missions to enable steady operation of communication lines and share data using all kinds of communications.
