MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – The proliferation of lethal weapons leads to more conflicts, pushing the world ever closer to a point of no return, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov (2010-2014) said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
In his analysis of the global power structure and the West’s aspirations, Nikolai Azarov pointed to recurrent calls to consolidate forces against China.

“Their supposed strategy is to crush Russia first, to isolate China. What kind of logic is that? What would ‘crushing China’ even entail? Given its current status and power, it would mean nothing less than a new Cold War, with all the risks of a hot one. And ‘crushing Russia’? The exact same outcome. To me, this is all perfectly straightforward,” he emphasized.

The former prime minister is confident that the military path is fraught with serious consequences: “The more lethal weapons we accumulate, the more conflicts we have, the closer we get to the point of no return.”

Nikolai Azarov also cited statements made by some Western European leaders who “in all seriousness say that they will get ready for war with Russia by 2027.”

“Why would they need this war?” he asked. “They say that Russia is threatening them. But what kind of threat can it pose in this situation? Some unidentified drones are flying over your airports. So you need to figure out where they came from. Thinking about such things makes you feel uneasy,” he said.
