Anna Lukashenko about Marathon of Unity: We’ve realized everything we’ve planned

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – The nationwide social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity is about to end and its results inspire pride and gratitude, BelTA learned from Anna Lukashenko, head of the working group in charge of organizing the marathon.

Anna Lukashenko said: “We sum up results of the Marathon of Unity with sadness. Yet we feel joy because we’ve realized everything we’ve planned and even more than that. I’d like to say huge thank you to everyone: reporters, ballet artists, vocalists, directors, organizers in Minsk and the regions, spectators and participants. This effect of joy and unity has become possible thanks to every one of us.”

Anna Lukashenko remarked that the Marathon of Unity had become an important event that had united residents of the country around common values. “We endeavored to create space for dialogue, creativity, and inspiration and we’ve managed to do that. Every project, every initiative has exceeded expectations,” she stressed.

According to Anna Lukashenko, special atmosphere was present at all the venues. People showed genuine interest and came up with their own ideas and initiatives. “Every city and town felt it was part of a big common cause. These were not just events. They are the history we can be proud of,” she added.

Anna Lukashenko also stressed that the Marathon of Unity had become a platform for the self-realization of young Belarusians, for creating new social projects, and for bolstering cultural ties. “We’ve proved that people can do unbelievable things when they unite for one goal,” she concluded.

The Marathon of Unity has not only united cities and regions. It has left a trace in people’s hearts. This large-scale project has become a starting point for recognizing the value of one’s own country, its people, and accomplishments.
