MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) - The concept of decorating Minsk for the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War has been finalized. The Belarusian capital will feature new photo zones, animated billboards and thematic stands dedicated to the liberation of Belarus, Deputy Director of the Minskreklama company Marina Gritseva told a press conference on Minsk beautification efforts on 20 March, BelTA has learned.

“The major colors for this year are red and golden. These are the colors of the Victory Banner and symbols traditionally associated with the Great Patriotic War,” said Marina Gritseva.

The capital city will be adorned with photo zones, creating a patriotic backdrop for the celebrations. “Last year we received numerous appeals from citizens who would like to see more themed photo zones. Such zones will be set up near the National Library, cinema houses, and also at Komarovsky market,” the deputy director said.

The outdoor advertising design will get changes, as well. “This year billboards will feature animations developed in cooperation with students. These will be pictures dedicated to the Victory of the Soviet people,” Marina Gritseva said.

The focus of course will be made on historical themes. “Independence Avenue will see 17 stands installed to depict the Red Army campaign in the liberation of Belarus. Each stand will be dedicated to a certain city or territory. There will an opportunity to learn interesting facts and lay flowers there,” the Minskreklama representative said.

Traditional elements of design will also made part of the city decorations. “As always, there will be a 40-meter handmade picture. A total of 1,418 constructions will be set up in different districts of the Belarusian capital to show that the Great Patriotic War lasted for 1,418 days. We hope that during this year’s celebrations the city will be as beautiful as never before,” Marina Gritseva said.
