MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) - It is easier to defend the interests of the CIS countries in the international arena by joint efforts, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Leonid Anfimov told reporters, BelTA has learned.
"By joint efforts, it is easier to defend the interests of the CIS countries in the international arena and advance these interests to the international level," Leonid Anfimov emphasized.
On 26 October Minsk will host a meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives. Among the issues on the agenda is the status of the action plan for 2021-2022 to implement a memorandum to advance the cooperation between the CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission. The plan includes 80 measures, in particular, to share information and experience, to align the economic legislation, to identify the causes and obstacles to effective joint trade in the CIS, technical regulation, phytosanitary control, sanitary standards and other issues that fall within the purview of both the CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission. In addition, an action program to intensify partnership between the CIS foreign ministries in 2021 is on the agenda too.
The permanent representatives are set to discuss the results of the meetings of the CIS Ministerial Council and the CIS Council of Heads of State which took place on 14-15 October and to outline the tasks to execute the documents adopted at the meetings and the agreements reached."At the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, some leaders made a number of proposals and initiatives that require detailed consideration and development of an action plan to implement them," Leonid Anfimov added. “The permanent representatives will also consider the activities of the Interstate Council for Combating Corruption. It was set up in 2013."
